AFS REDUCES ENERGY CONSUMPTION & SERVICE COST FOR LANCASHIRE PLANT

06th June 2018

We have recently installed and commissioned a site-wide air compressor control system at a large window profile extrusion plant resulting in significant energy and equipment running cost reductions.

The Lancashire based manufacturer, a high-quality global supplier of PVC extruded window frame section to the glazing industry, uses compressed air to drive its extruding operations.

The work undertaken by AFS resulted in energy and equipment running cost reductions of approximately £13,000 per annum.

Andy Ryan, Managing Director, AFS Limited said: “The compressed air system logging and analysis provided by AFS identified the savings and justified the capital investment providing a return on investment of just 12 months. Better Control of the system has allowed us to operate the system with one less air compressor.”

The scope of activities included:

  • To identify and provide energy savings that could be made to justify the necessary capital investment and reduce the companies carbon footprint.
  • System operating on a three running and one standby system with a generation capacity of 1370 efm @ 76 erg.
  • The system complete with two desiccant air dryers units producing air quality to ISO Class 1
