Bespoke breathing air system.

To protect workers who operate in radioactive areas. Nuclear plants are required to implement fail-safe breathing air systems, which connect to protective suits worn by the operatives. This system must comply with the BS EN 12021 standard.

Solution

Nine months in design and 16 weeks in manufacture, the bespoke system is tailored to the clients exact requirements.

The cutting-edge system converts compressed air into breathing air which is supplied to protective suits worn by operatives working in radioactive areas.

The solution designed by AFS utilises a range of key components from suppliers such as Sauer, Parker and Compair.

In order to achieve the project requirements, AFS specifically designed an on-site building which enables automated control, monitoring and alarm systems.

In addition, AFS have provided a comprehensive service and maintenance schedule, designed to continually ensure safety standards are achieved, monitored and recorded.
